ANDROOOOID games review.

Hello, this is actually a homework for my subject MOBIDEV but yeah, just so you know reader, i'm an old school gamer--i used to review stuff from the 90's. Been fond of the 16-bit graphic wars between Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis plus the ascension of Sony Playstation in the industry. Now, phones have been a major player in the gaming market but still, nothing beats the past. Yeah, so... to start off...

My 3 best picks (in no particular order)

1. Street Fighter 3: New Generation (works from tiger arcade emulator engine)

Usability: 8/10. The good thing with this one is that it is THE arcade port. No revamps whatsoever. It is easily accessed and installed in the phone using the engine so there you go. I don't really know what's it called pero it works with the screen being placed horizontally. Yeah... For a game being released way back '97, it gets a great comeback today :) I've heard rumors for two-player modes being allowed through bluetooth.

Graphics: 7/10 A little sluggish but it's okay. still somewhat smooth but not at par with the arcade experience.

Controls: 7/10 Oh, don't make me say something about this. Usually, emulator games in android phones have this built onscreen joypad--which ruins the experience for me as it blocks the screen. nevertheless, the super arts are still doable for its complexity though i don't know how would the screen look like afterwards.

Overall: 7.5/10. Fighting games aren't really made for android phones but this is a great step away to that.

2. Rock Band

Usability: 9/10. Again, another port from the gaming systems but yeah, i guess comparisons help this review. Anyway, I've tried playing this and I'd say that the song list is quite large for an android game. It can keep me busy for numerous hours of rocking.

Graphics: 9/10 The interface really gets its props for being almost the same with its console counterparts. It's smooth, stylish and colorful.

Controls: 7/10. The only thing that kept this game from really rocking is that you only use your thumbs. Boooooo. Oh well... But still it doesn't deprive you from a great musical experience. Imagine playing dance dance revolution on a controller and you'll get what i mean.

Overall: 8.5. The songs sound crisp and yeah... this takes rockband anywhere which is good.

3. Brothers in arms 2: Global Front

Usability: 8/10 FPS in android? Cool. Got to see a video of its gameplay and yes, It was good.

Graphics: 9.5/10 Crisp graphics for an android app. Very detailed. Makes me think that i'm playing with a PSP.

Controls: 7.5 For a game genre that usually requires a controller or a keyboard, i'm surprised that this one pulls the whole thing off even if the controls are as usual, touch-screen based.

Overall: 8.5 Can't say much since i haven't played it but seeing the video of its gameplay makes me want to avail one

Now here we go. the rotten tomatoes of videogames, the bad games that i've found on android... dun dun dun dun...

Need For Speed: Shift - No subsequent comments on these ones unlike the games above. uhmmm, to start with this game, I don't know if it's just me but why is that racing games on android loses the function to step on the gas? Though i like that the accelerometer feature of android is used on the game for steering. Anyhow, this gets boring overtime since it lacks several things that a racing game typically has.

Crush the Castle: Angry birds rip-off? Check. Boring interface? Check. yeah... if you're a fan of the famous birds, then this game sure is good but seeing the princess die turned me off with this one.

Teeter: This is actually a good game. Labyrinth then make the ball escape with the use of the accelerometer but I can bet my whole life's earnings if you'd get easily frustrated with this game! Hoo-rah!

Disclaimer: I don't do reviews so well. Also, I try to make it funny though. A great video game reviewer for you to watch would be the "Angry Video Game Nerd" :) And yes, i'm really sorry as i do not have android thingies in my arsenal.
